Local Buildings in the News

The Theodor Kundtz Co. building was recently added to the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1914 and enlarged in 1924, this four- and six-story brick building in the city’s Flats area was part of the plant of the Theodor Kundtz co., specialist in woodworking, carving, casework and sewing-machine cabinets. Kundtz made woodwork for local landmarks like Trinity Cathedral and the Cuyahoga County Courthouse and later became part of White Sewing Machine Co. Theodor Kundtz built and lived in a grand mansion on Lake Ave. in Lakewood.
