Lakewood House and Garden Tour
Our long-awaited tour is always a sell-out. It not only provides the society with a major source of funds, but also gives us the opportunity to showcase the wonderful variety of homes in our community. This year's homes were chosen from community nominations and are sure to be favorites!
We are excited about the 2008 Come Home to Lakewood House Tour and hope everyone will support this major fundraising event. The proceeds will help maintain the society's Oldest Stone House and Nicholson House.

LAKEWOOD HISTORY PROJECT
Each term teacher Dina Bluemel's students in Grant School's 2/3
Discovery Class work with Executive Director Mazie Adams to research
a Lakewood history topic using primary and secondary sources. Students
take notes, organize information, create timelines, and produce
a documentary movie.
AASLH AWARD: The Lakewood Historical Society and Grant Elementary School are the recipients of a 2008 Award of Merit from the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) Leadership in History Awards for the Lakewood History Project. This school year the second and third graders
researched the history of Cowan Pottery, which
started right here in Lakewood.
Previous
years' projects:
The
Templar Automobile: A Superfine Small Car, which was built in
Lakewood in the early 1900s.
