Collections


The Lakewood Historical Society collects, preserves, interprets, and makes available for research and learning items and documents representing the history of Rockport Township and the city of Lakewood, Ohio, to promote interest in and expand the knowledge of the life, history, and traditions of the area.


Documents/Audio-Visual Materials

Papers, records, photographs, and audio and video recordings pertaining to any aspect of Lakewood history, including social, educational, fraternal, and religious organizations, businesses, politics, architecture, and individuals and families.

Books and Published Works

Books, magazines, and other published works which reveal the history of Midwestern life and culture with particular emphasis on the Lakewood community, the Western Reserve, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and local authors.

Objects/Clothing and Textiles

Objects, including decorative arts (furniture, furnishings, glass, ceramics, metals), works of art, cultural items, food-making equipment, tools, and hand-made items, particularly of the Lakewood community, Rockport Township, and Cuyahoga County. Clothing and other textiles worn, used or made locally.

The Education Collection

Objects, documents, and photographic images of the Lakewood community, Rockport Township or Cuyahoga County are collected for use as educational tools and resources.
